ABILENE GIVES 2021
Last year, we celebrated 90 years of magic under the stars at the Paramount Theatre. Abilene has changed a lot since we first opened in 1930, but when the marquee lights up, people know something big is going on downtown. Now a multi-functional venue, the Paramount screens films, produces plays and musicals, is a concert stop for your favorite artists, and serves as the performance home for countless local organizations.
In 2019, we continued to expand our programming and lit up our marquee more than 100 times! 2020 presented us with some big challenges, but this theatre survived the Dust Bowl, the Great Depression, and World War II. This year, we have been cautiously reopening our doors by showing movies, smaller live productions, and our second Cabaret Under the Stars, all with limited seating. We know that with your help we will be here for our centennial celebration in 2030!
Your support of the Paramount during Abilene Gives will help us fund our live shows. Performers, young and old, don’t pay a dime to participate. With your help we’ve wowed audiences for 28 years with breathtaking sets, one-of-a-kind costumes, stunning projections, and a group of talented performers you might not have known were from our wonderful city! As long as there are talented people in the Big Country, we will keep putting on shows.
